Jim is often asked to describe Laubinger & Associates, LLC.
He says he always has a hard time describing his business, as he feels it requires him to reduce his life’s passion into “a few buzzwords.”
Jim has been in the CPA profession for more than 30 years and has always considered himself a bit of an outlier in terms of being a CPA.
“I have taken a non-traditional path,” Jim says. “I have performed non-traditional services, and I challenged my associates to be non-traditional professionals.”
The company’s tagline is “Beyond CPAs.”
What does that mean, exactly?
“While partners in firms can fight over whose name is on the door, we have chosen to brand ourselves for the long term,” Jim says. “When you look at Beyond CPAs, you are looking at a group of individuals who are willing to look at a client as a relationship and not as an invoice. We are looking for ways we can work with our clients as integral members of their teams, not just from the outside looking in.”
After graduating Illinois State University, Jim started his career at a certified public accounting firm in Elk Grove Village, IL moving his way up to Partner level. After developing a substantial book of business and after much thought, Jim decided it was time to take the jump to entrepreneurship and start his own CPA firm. In June 2013, Laubinger & Associates, LLC began.
When Jim is not at his downtown Glen Ellyn office, he is spending time with his family and friends. Playing paddle tennis, supporting his boys in their adventures especially at the baseball fields, cheering on the Cubs, Bears, and Josh Allen.
Leslie graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After working as a loss prevention consultant for several years, she welcomed her first child and decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Upon reentering the workforce, Leslie worked as the office manager for a local psychotherapy practice before settling into her role as bookkeeper for Laubinger & Associates, LLC.
When she's not in the office assisting Jim and Kim, Leslie enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children. She also enjoys playing tennis, baking, traveling, going to concerts, and walking her dog "Boots".
After graduating from Augustana College, Kim immediately dove into her financial career beginning at a CPA firm in Elk Grove Village. Throughout her nearly 30 years of experience in public accounting, as a controller, as a Chief Financial Officer and for the last 11 years, the COO of Laubinger & Associates, LLC, she has gained much knowledge of business applications, from budgeting and forecasting, financial statement presentation to human resources and payroll management.
Beyond her career, Kim focuses on her family and friends, cheering on her two boys at the baseball fields with Jim and through each step of their journeys, enjoying quality time and travel together. She is also the Board Treasurer for the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center.
